About me

My name is Haleigh Moon Schiafo (she/her), and I have been licensed & practicing as a massage therapist since 2024. I graduated from the massage therapy program at Community College of Philadelphia in February 2022.

I grew up in the Hudson Valley, NY, as the second of five children. My mother was a massage therapist, my father a gardener & herbalist, and I was exposed to a variety of traditional healing & movement modalities as a young child. I was a playful & imaginative kid who loved to explore outside, read, and make-up fantastic stories. Through my teen years, I was quiet & shy, but found joy & expression in theater, singing, and a burgeoning love for vintage clothing. I went on to study fashion business & product development in New York City, worked as a buyer, ran my own small brand, producing art events & designing products inspired by witchcraft, queer identity, and empowered sexuality, and wrote & edited for a dark style website. I’ve since worked a great many jobs from sex educator to axe throwing coach to stocking grocery shelves.

I have always been interested in embodiment, movement, and healing through the body. I have explored my own relationship with embodiment through yoga, weight lifting, dance, burlesque, shibari, photography, personal style, and bdsm. Liberation, queerness, expression, and the politics of the body have heavily informed those explorations. I have also always been an explorer of magic & mystery, especially that which resides in the mundane & earthly, and how we can draw upon this magic for empowerment, grounding, & healing. In life’s strange way, this all came together to lead me to the lifelong study of bodywork, as well as herbalism, and the ongoing exploration of ritual, relationship, and connection. I believe our relationship to our bodies & to this Earth hold much wisdom in guiding us toward collective healing & liberation.

I now live & work in Germantown, Philadelphia, on unceded Lenni-Lenape land, with my wife, Tina, and our three cats, Mushroom, Goblin, and Smudge. I’m a lesbian, a witch, usually fat, probably neurodivergent. I am white, and of mostly Irish & Italian ancestry. I’m an herbalist, artist, gardener, cook, maker, mover, daughter, sister, friend, lover, and divine, wild, changing creature. I love to sing, dance, laugh, make art, bake, play, and learn. When I’m not with you in the studio, you may often find me relaxing with my love & my cats, busy with my hands making or crafting something, reading too many books at once, rewatching a favorite show, walking in the woods, or building my garden. I love to camp, work out, see live music, and I go to the Renaissance Faire every year. I believe in the power of community care & mutual aid, and especially love to get involved with food sovereignty initiatives.

My personal & ongoing experience of healing my own body relationship has greatly influenced my path to becoming a bodyworker, and shapes the way I approach this work. I live in a body with chronic pain & mental illness, and have struggled with disordered relationships with food, movement, and my body. I am learning to live more slowly & cyclically, honoring my body & the Earth’s rhythms, and exploring, learning, & unlearning what it is to live well in an unwell world. I am truly in this strange, non-linear journey of learning to love & care for my body right along with you, and believe we all have much wisdom to share with one another!
